Second chance for Paul Hackett this year?

Wed Aug 16, 2006 at 12:29:34 PM PDT

Political Wire is reporting that Stephanie Studebaker (D) is out of the race for OH-3, having been arrested on domestic violence charges.  At the end of the piece, Goddard drops this juicy item at the end:

Meanwhile, the Buckeye State Blog considers Paul Hackett (D) a potential replacement for Studebaker.

Hackett doesn't live in OH-3, but the Buckeye State Blog likes his chances anyway ...

I'm confused

Wed Aug 16, 2006 at 09:12:03 AM PDT

So, on my way to work today, I heard the following story on NPR:

Welcome,
For Immediate Release:
August 15, 2006

At 4PM, Stephanie Studebaker released the following statement:

"After deciding to focus my efforts entirely on my family, I am withdrawing my name from the ballot as a candidate for Ohio's Third Congressional District, effective immediately. Ohio families are ready for a change, and this is a seat Democrats can and will win in November."

I don't even want to get into why she dropped out of the race...

Stephanie Studebaker arrested for domestic violence

Hoo boy. Be prepared for a wave of projection... Edit: Dayton Daily News story, from Ord Avg Guy in comments. and this from BetterDonkeys.

Aw, Crap! Stephanie Studebaker is arrested!

Mon Aug 14, 2006 at 04:40:59 PM PDT

Dr. Stephanie Studebaker, the Democratic nominee for Congress in OH-03 against Mike Turner, and her husband were both arrested on domestic violence charges following a disturbance at their home.

There's no good way to spin this one. This is fatal to her campaign, and we can cross her off the list. In that part of Ohio, we now need to focus our efforts on OH-01 and OH-15.

Dayton, Ohio news crew caught on tape refusing to cover rally for Iraq Withdrawal

Mon Jul 31, 2006 at 04:27:06 PM PDT

Watch the video

Media bias doesn't get any worse than this folks. On Saturday July 29th Congressional candidate Stephanie Studebaker

The kicker? The rally is about 30 feet behind the news crew. They're busy taping the river for some "weather footage".

Paul Hackett joins with Stephanie Studebaker to Rally for America

Wed Jul 19, 2006 at 03:48:06 PM PDT

Today I would like to invite you to join me and my friend Paul Hackett for a very special "RALLY FOR AMERICA" on Saturday, July 29th in Dayton, Ohio.

Three years ago President George Bush rushed our country to war in Iraq while Congressman Mike Turner cheered him on. Instead of pursuing Osama Bin Laden, the man responsible for the heinous events of 9/11, our President sent our troops back to Baghdad to pursue a war without end.

We have seen the effects of this war clearly here at home. As of today, the war in Iraq has consumed 2,554 brave American patriots. Of the entire nation, only four states have lost more sons and daughters to this war than Ohio.

DFA Grassroots All-Stars Poll (Pombo Diaries #28)

Thu Jun 22, 2006 at 04:58:13 PM PDT

There's five candidates in the running for Democracy for America's Grassroots All-Star Campaign.   (Vote here).  I've got a wealth of links and info about each of the five below the fold, as well as about the Republicans they're aiming to unseat.  After I lay out the anti-Pombo case, there's more than enough stuff for you to review on your own.

Jerry McNerney's running against Richard Pombo in CA-11.  Pombo's vulnerable, and in IMHO, one of the most harmful members of Congress today.  Getting him out of office will make a difference for the whole country.  (Why stop there?  For the whole world!)  McNerney's professional background is as a wind engineer.  Wouldn't you like to see someone who actually knows something about renewable energy in the mix in Congress?  I sure would.

As I write, the lead advert here on dKos is McNerney's, encouraging us to vote for him in the poll.  Good move, Jerry.  And good slogan, too.  One which I believe to be true: We ALL live in Richard Pombo's district!

Stephanie Studebaker Campaign hummin' along

Fri Jun 09, 2006 at 05:03:01 AM PDT

I meant to post this earlier, but have been having too good a time with Stephanie Studebaker's campaign!

Studebaker's "Watchdog Team" energizes for combat!

Sun May 21, 2006 at 06:04:31 AM PDT

They kept arriving Thurs. night, in groups of 2's and 3's, until the crowd reached 40+.  You could feel the energy in the hall and see the electricity flow between individual groups as they discussed the upcoming battle for the OH-3 Congressional District.

OH-3rd Cong District Studebaker (D) challenging Turner (R)

Thu Mar 16, 2006 at 08:15:17 PM PDT

Mike Turner has voted with Tom Delay 94% of the time.

Stephanie Studebaker is concerned about the corruption in Washington. She is worried about the jobs bleeding out of Ohio by the tens of thousands. She believes the NSA wiretapping without a warrant is illegal. She sees the task of balancing the budget as a moral responsibility. She supports a woman's right to choose. I can support Ms. Studebaker 100% and I'm sure most Ohio Kossaks can as well.

OH-3 Studebaker for Congress Event w/ Phil Donahue

Fri Feb 10, 2006 at 04:28:18 PM PDT

Tommorow Dr. Stephanie Studebaker will be formally announcing her candidacy for the United States Congress.

Stephanie Studebaker will be a formidable candidate.

I will vouch for her.

I have seen her in action.  She knows how to organize and bring out the grassroots in large numbers.  She also knows what the inner workings of a successful campaign looks like.  What I find amazing when watching her work is her ability to share power within a group and capitalize on other folks' initiative. Stephanie has the skills and temperament to be a great congresswoman.  I worked with her on three media events in the past and she has what it
takes to fight for OH-3.

Dec 31 FEC Deadline approaches: Post a link to your favorite grassroots candidate here.

Thu Dec 29, 2005 at 02:18:45 PM PDT

If you know of someone running in 2006 that will uphold Progressive/Liberal/ Economically Sane policies while protecting our Civil Liberties,  post a link on this thread.

The GOP/Neocon Candidates are spending  their time deciding on whether they should distance themselves from GB43 or draw him closer.  We can spend our time searching out and supporting Grassroots Democrats.

The time for mobilization is now.   Fortunately we can mobilize by keyboard at this point in the game.

Take some action and post a link for a Grassroots Democrat running for office.

Take a chance and support a Grassroots Democrat listed by a fellow DailyKos member.

Take a moment to recommend this Diary.

Of course this is a naked attempt to promote my own candidate here in Ohio. Dr. Stephanie Studebaker is running for Congress in OH 3. www.studebakerforcongress.com

These races caught my attention. I want your say about them

Tue Nov 29, 2005 at 05:21:37 AM PDT

What about these races, what's the likely outcome, what's good with the candidates, who's the real underdog and a fighting democrat and what should they all do to win?

These guys caught my attention. Let's see what you have to say about them.

The list on the flip
